Johnson, Richardson Win Consolation Finals

Junior Wolverine swimmers Dani Johnson and Becca Richardson each won consolations finals (seventh place) at the at the Wyoming State Swimming and Diving Championships completed today in Gillette.

Johnson had qualified 7th in the 50 free with a time of 26.47. Johnson's previous best time was a 27.00. Cutting more than a half-second from her best time is a surprising accomplishment.

Becca Richardson qualified tenth in the 500 free in the preliminaries and placed seventh after winning the consolation finals.

Riverton's 200 free relay team consisting of Johnson, Richardson, Shelby Rice and Janeen Buss finished fifth with at time of 1:48.25

Conference

Friday night of the Conference meet in Casper the Lady Wolverines had several swimmers qualify for the consolation and finals to swim on Saturday. Among those ladies in the consolation finals were:

Ladies in the finals heat were:
Abby White - 50 Free, 100 Free
Becca Richardson - 100 Fly, 400 Free
Shelby Rice - 100 Free, 100 Back

Britney Domine - 100 Breaststroke

The Lady Wolverines placed 3rd out of 5 teams during the conference meet. Kari Armajo and Jessica Roberts placed 8th and 9th in diving helping to score points for the team. During the weekend the ladies came away with more than 13 personal best times. Katie Barnett grabbed a place at state qualifying in the 200 freestyle. Becca Richardson took 6 seconds off of her personal best time in the 400 and placing 2nd in the Conference. Also the 200 freestyle relay (Dani Johnson, Shelby Rice, Janeen Buss, and Becca Richardson) came away Saturday with a best season time of 2:01.73 (in meters). This was a great weekend for the Lady Wolvering Swimmers and Divers. They came out performing strong on Friday and it definately carried over to Saturday for them. They will travel to Lander for the Last Chance Meet on Thursday October 18, 2007 and then to State in Gillette on the 26th - 27th of October.

Final Home Meet of the Season

RHS Lady Wolverine Swimmers had a strong weekend for their last home meet on Saturday. Abby White qualified for state for the first time this year in the 100 and 50 yard freestyles. Dani Johnson added another event to her list for state in the 200 yard freestyle. Also, Shelby Rice added the 100 yard freestyle to her list of state qualified events. In diving Kari Armajo finished 2nd place overall with a score of 142.40. Our other two divers Callie Chesser and Jessica Roberts placed in the top eight helping to score points for the team. The several personal bests during the day aided the Lady Wolverines in a second place seating in the meet out of the five teams that participated.

Senior Day was conducted at this meet recognizing the 4 seniors on the team who have been an integral part of leadership and team building and who will definately be missed in the following seasons. Seniors honored were Sarah Perkins, Kelsey Galey, Amber Rambo, and Kelargo Casey.

Worland Invite

Riverton High School Lady Wolverine Swimmers produced 5 personal best times over the weekend and the three divers at the meet Jessica Roberts, Callie Chesser, and Kari Armajo also came away from Worland with best dive meets under their belts. Best times for swimmers was Laurene Arthur in the 50 yard freestyle, Abbey White in the 50 yard freestyle, Rachel Medow in the 100 yard butterfly, Becca Richardson in the 100 yard freestyle, and Dani Johnson in the 100 yard backstroke. The Lady Wolverines will have their last home meet of the season this Saturday (9-29-07).

Double Dual

Lady Wolverine swimmers competed in a double dual meet in Lander on Tuesday September 18, 2007 against Lander and Natrona. The girls fell to Lander but came out with a victory over Natrona. In the meet highlights Janeen Buss added another event to her qualifying times for State in 100 yard butterfly. Katie Barnett finished first place in the 200 yard freestyle. Abbey White came within qualifying distance in the 100 yard freestyle with a 1:02.96 (qualifying time is 1:02.80). RHS Lady Wolverine swimmers travel to Worland on Saturday to participate in the Worland Invite. Go TEAM!

Riverton Invite

The girls had a good weekend. With the pre-invite on Friday night and the Riverton invite on Saturday they were able to swim against some larger schools and participate in that larger competition. Several girls took off time throughout the weekend. Chipping away at personal bests included: Lisa Johnson in the 200 yard IM, Destiney Dower in the 50 yard freestyle, Alex Bracken and Abby White also in the 50 yard freestyle, Andie Novotny and Anika Greenhalgh in the 100 yard freestyle, and Anika Greenhalgh also in the 100 yard backstroke. Britney Domine came within .24 seconds of qualifying in the 100 yard breaststroke. Her time keeps getting faster and we are looking forward to adding her to our roster of state qualifiers. Shelby Rice is definately within grasps of qualifying in the 100 yard backstroke with only .32 seconds to shave before she adds it to her state events. We look forward to going into Tuesday against Lander and Saturday at the Worland Invite with the girls swimming faster times and are hoping to nab some more state qualifying times!

Swimmers Swim in Cody/Powell

Cody - Friday September 7, 2007

The Riverton High School Girls beat Cody in the triangular meet with a score of 94-92 but ended up falling short losing to Lander 126 - 60. During the meet Janeen Buss nabbed another qualifying time this time in the 200 IM with a 2:38.05 adding to that a 2nd place finish overall. In the diving event Kari Armajo finished 3rd place for the team with a total score of 134.15. The 200 yard free relay added an exciting first place finish for the meet with a time of 1:50.01 beating the second place team by 1.16 seconds. The team was comprised of Becca Richardson, Dani Johnson, Janeen Buss, and Shelby Rice.

Powell - Saturday September 8, 2007

Riverton finished 6th at the Dozah Invitational on Saturday. Taking off time in both of their individual events were the following swimmers: Sara Perkins, Abbey White, Destiney Dower, and Amber Rambo. Swimmers who shaved 5 or more seconds from their time in their individual events were: Sara Perkins, Deelayna Woolery, Laurene Arthur, and Becca Richardson. The Riverton Girls Swim team swam hard this weekend and many were able to come away from the weekend with personal best times as well as were able to focus on individual events and take some time off of those.

RHS Girls Swimming in Rock Springs

RHS Girls Swimming Team had another strong and consistent meet in Rock Springs on Thursday August 30, 2007.

The triangular meet consisted of Riverton, Rock Springs, and Lyman. RHS came out in second place by only 4 points. It was a great meet and the girls are swimming consistent with their showings from the previous weekend.

Becca Richardson qualified in the 100 yard butterfly and the 500 yard freestyle making 5 events for the season. Britany Domine is on the brink of qualification for state in the 100 yard breaststroke with only 1.01 seconds to shave before she reaches that goal. The relay teams made good showing in Rock Springs. The 200 yard medley relay placed first at the meet with Amber Rambo swimming backstroke, Janeen Buss swimming breaststroke, Becca Richardson swimming butterfly, and Dani Johnson bringing in the anchor leg with the freestyle. The RHS swim team has increased its depth this year and is able to comprise four 200 yard medley relay teams which is very exciting. Janeen Buss, Shelby Rice, Becca Richardson, and Dani Johnson made up the 200 yard freestyle relay also placing first in the meet.

The 400 yard freestyle relay scored points for the team by coming in 3rd place overall. Contributing in that relay were Alex Bracken, Amber Rambo, Rachel Meadow, and Britney Domine. The team was joined this meet by 3 of the divers: Callie Chesser, Kari Armajo, and Chloe Rohrbacker. The girls had their dives ready and contributed to the team standing. All of the RHS girl swimmers and divers produced great results at this meet logging in personal best times, taking time off, and trying new events to help give greater depth to the team.

Girls Swimming in Gillette

Four Lady Wolverine Swimmers qualified for state in their first meet of the season Saturday in Gillette. In the 50 yard freestyle qualifiers included Dani Johnson, Becca Richardson, and Shelby Rice. Richardson also qualified in the 100 yard freestyle and the 100 yard backstroke and Johnson in the 100 yard freestyle. Janeen Buss qualified for state in the 100 yard breaststroke. All Lady Wolverines swam well with a good strong start to the season finishing in 5th place at the meet.
