David Fregoli Places Second at State

Riverton's David Fregoli placed second today at the Wyoming State Tennis Chmapionships in Cheyenne. Aaron Lapkin from Cheyenne East defeated Fregoli 6-3, 6-4 to win the state championship crown.

Fregoli To Play For State Title

After early round wins against opponents from Torrington and Cheyenne Central, Riverton's David Fregoli will play for a state tennis singles championship today after he defeated the number one seed and previously undefeated challenger Porter Emery from Casper Natrona in two straight sets Friday at the State Tennis Championships in Cheyenne.

Fergoli's advancement to the title match is the best performance ever by an RHS tennis athlete.

Up next for Fregoli is Cheyenne East Freshman and number one seed from the south regional Aaron Lapkin.

Other Riverton men's particpants are Randy McKinnon (number 2 singles), Quinton Harrison and Tyler Zenk (one win in consolation rounds number one doubles), Philip Gard and Nick Galloway (number 2 doubles) and Brent Forbis and Adam Bench (number 3 doubles).

For the RHS Lady Wolverines, Julia Bregenzer had one win in the number one singles consolation round. Other particpants are Kelsey Fustos (number 2 singles), Amy Miller and Micha Christianson (one consolation win, number one doubles), Shandi Berridge and Hailey Reiter (two consolation wins, number 2 doubles), and Crystal Wunder and Melissa Rucker (one win, number 3 doubles).

Wolverine Tennis Player Fergoli 3rd at Regionals

Riverton Wolverine tennis player David Fergoli defeated Austin Cowen from Gillette 6-2, 6-2 to cap a great performance at the regional tennis tournament held Saturday in Casper. Fergoli will lead the Wolverine men's and women's tennis team at their state tournamnet beginning Thursday in Cheyenne.

The Regular Season Ends for the Wolverine Tennis Team

The Wolverine Tennis Team finished it's regular season last weekend, with games against Natrona and Kelly Walsh. Regionals start this weekend in Casper and is followed by State the next weekend. Below is an updated list of the season's games and scores.

Wolverine Tennis Shows Well Against Torrington

Despite a few schedule changes, the Wolverine tennis team had a good showing against the visiting Torrington team this Saturday. Both the girls' and boys' teams boasted several wins.


Kelsey Fustos, Girls' #1 Singles, lost 1-6, 1-6. #2 Singles, Amy Miller, split sets 4-6, 6-3, but lost the third set 1-6. Shandi Berridge and Haley Reiter, Girl's #1 Doubles team, split sets 5-7, 6-3 and won the third set 6-3. The #2 Doubles team of Olivia Wolpert and Micah Christensen lost 2-6, 3-6. Crystal Wunder and Melissa Rucker split sets 1-6, 7-5 as the #3 Doubles team, but lost the third set 2-6.


Both Boys' Singles players won their matches. David Fergoli won 6-2, 6-3 and Tyler Zenk won 7-5, 6-2. Randy McKinnon and Phillip Gard, the Boy's #1 Doubles team, lost 5-7, 2-6. The #2 Doubles team of Quinton Harrison and Nick Galloway split sets 5-7, 7-5, but lost the third set 3-6. Joel Williams and Brent Forbis, of the #3 Doubles team, lost 2-6, 1-6.


The Wolverine Tennis Team will travel to Rawlins this Friday and host Cody and Powell on Saturday.

Riverton High School's Tennis Team challenged Gillette and Sheridan Thursday afternoon in Riverton. In this photo, Hailey Reiter and Micah Christensen wait to return serve against Sheridan. On this point, Christensen ripped a forehand winner on break-point against her Sheridan doubles opponent.
